Selected as a Pilot User Institution for Public Procurement Service Innovative Products, Installed and Operating 'AIoT-Based Smart Integrated Solution'
Real-Time Detection of Abnormal Behavior, Quick Response Enabled by AI Algorithm Alerts for Dangerous Situations
168 Units to Be Installed in Fishery and Disabled Restrooms Among All Public Restrooms in Seongdong-gu
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) has been selected as a pilot user institution for the '2024 2nd Innovative Product Pilot Use Project' by the Public Procurement Service and will receive 210 million KRW in national funding to promote the installation of the 'AIoT-based Smart Integrated Solution (Savvy)' in public restrooms.
The innovative product pilot purchase project, led by the Public Procurement Service, selects pilot user institutions to support initial public procurement channels and promote public service improvements by purchasing and supplying innovative products, analyzing their usage results, and expanding procurement.
The product selected for Seongdong-gu as a pilot user institution this time is the 'AIoT Smart Integrated Solution for Safe, Secure, and Satisfactory Restrooms.'
Using non-identifiable data that does not infringe on personal information, the system detects abnormal behavior of individuals staying in restrooms in real-time through infrared sensors, analyzes it with AI algorithms, and immediately sends automatic alerts to managers and police in case of risks such as illegal filming or falls, enabling prompt response.
This approach is expected to minimize damage by detecting criminal behavior in advance rather than responding after a crime, and to prepare for emergencies such as fall detection for the elderly or vulnerable individuals. The AIoT Smart Integrated Solution will be installed in a total of 168 units within women’s and accessible restrooms across all public restrooms in Seongdong-gu by the end of this year.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “We will make further efforts to create public restrooms where residents can use with peace of mind by expanding the installation of safety facilities in public restrooms.”
