Busan City and Four Organizations Sign MOU to Promote Advanced Technology-Based Composite Materials Industry

Building Future New Industry Growth Base and Advancing Core Industries... Cooperation for System Establishment, Ecosystem Creation, and Revitalization

On the afternoon of the 13th, the city of Busan signed a "Business Agreement for the Promotion of Advanced Technology-Based Composite Materials Industry" with four organizations at the medium conference room of the Busan Regional Industry-Academia Cooperation Center.

The organizations participating in the agreement are the city, JEC, Busan Technopark, Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, and Korea Carbon Nano Industry Association.


Present at the signing ceremony were Jung Yoon, Director of the Semiconductor and New Materials Division of the city, Thomas Lepretre, Deputy CEO of JEC, Kim Hyunggyun, President of Busan Technopark, Yoo Kyungmin, Acting Director of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, and Park Jongsu, President of the Korea Carbon Nano Industry Association, who each signed the agreement in person.


On this day, the participating organizations pledged to establish an organic cooperation system for the growth of Busan's future new industries and the advancement of core industries, and to mutually cooperate to create and vitalize the ecosystem of the composite materials industry.


Through this agreement, the city will focus on formulating policies and discovering projects to foster the composite materials industry ecosystem; JEC will support event planning and business attraction for the revitalization of the composite materials industry; Busan Technopark will promote events and projects for the industry’s growth; and the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency and Korea Carbon Nano Industry Association will support the development of world-class core technologies in composite materials and plan and support related events.


JEC is a non-profit organization that fosters the promotion and application of composite materials and hosts the international composite materials exhibition "JEC WORLD" in Paris, France every year. This year’s exhibition was held from March 5 to 7, attracting over 1,300 companies and 43,500 visitors from more than 100 countries, concluding successfully.


Jung Yoon, Director of the Semiconductor and New Materials Division of the city, stated, "Through this agreement, we will do our utmost to establish Busan as the hub of the composite materials industry in Asia," and added, "We will also make every effort to successfully host the upcoming 'JEC ASIA FORUM' to be held in Busan in 2026."
