Investment Agreement with Dutch SHS Company
A Dutch smart farm facility will be established in the Chungnam Global Holti Complex, which will become the largest and best smart farm complex in the Republic of Korea.
To strengthen global exchange and cooperation in smart agriculture, Governor Kim Tae-heum, who embarked on a business trip to Europe, signed a memorandum of understanding for investment with Alfred Schwegler, CEO of SHS, on the 13th (local time) in Pardenburg, Amstelveen, the Netherlands.
SHS plans to invest $75 million (102 billion KRW) within five years to build a smart farm facility covering 118,800㎡ in the Chungnam Global Holti Complex.
SHS is a global company that installs and operates smart farm facilities and provides sustainable agricultural solutions. Recently, it has been promoting a 10-hectare smart farm construction project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The province expects that once SHS builds the smart farm, Dutch smart farm facilities, technology, and operational know-how will be introduced domestically, enabling young farmers to acquire advanced technology.
Governor Kim said, "I deeply sympathize with SHS's pursuit of future agriculture aimed at responding to climate change and securing food security," adding, "Through this Chungnam project, I hope to establish an advanced smart agriculture system and upgrade Korean agriculture to the next level through technological cooperation and education."
