60s Man Sentenced to Prison for Embezzling LH Deposit Using Front Tenant Scheme

On the 14th, the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Northern District Court (Chief Judge Lee Dong-sik) sentenced Park Mo (60), who was indicted on fraud charges, to one year in prison in the first trial. The court stated, "This case involved the fraudulent acquisition of jeonse deposit support funds, and considering the method of the crime and the scale of the damage, the culpability is not light, and the damage has hardly been recovered."

In April 2022, Park embezzled 184 million won of the jeonse rental deposit paid by LH by using Mr. A, a basic livelihood security recipient, as a tenant. Park fabricated a false lease contract stating that Mr. A paid 230 million won in jeonse and moved into his villa located in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, and received the deposit from LH. Mr. A said he no longer intended to move in, and Park notified LH that he had used all the deposit and could not return it.
