Gyeonggi Office of Education Implements 'Experience-Centered Character Education' at 12 Elementary and Middle Schools Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education's Role Play 'Rediscovery of Life' Poster

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is conducting the experience-centered character education project "Bom·Bom·Bom Project" until August 19 to cultivate students' basic character and emotional growth.

The Bom·Bom·Bom Project is derived from the endings of phrases meaning ▲experience through theater ▲self-reflect on one's character through character tests and role-playing ▲voluntarily practice.

This project is being piloted at 12 schools, including 8 elementary schools and 4 middle schools, divided into a moral intelligence test and the character education role-play "Rediscovery of Character."

The moral intelligence test is evidence-based character education that measures the development of moral virtues such as empathy, discernment, self-control, respect, kindness, tolerance, and fairness through questions reflecting specific situations. Students participate in role-play classes after identifying their strong virtues and those needing improvement based on the test results.

Next, students complete the play by choosing actions themselves in conflict situations, followed by final monitoring.

Lee Ji-myeong, Director of the Life Character Education Division at the Provincial Office of Education, said, "The goal of character education is for educational experiences to lead to students' voluntary reflection and practice," adding, "We will expand experience-centered character education so that students demonstrate basic character in conflict situations, choose moral actions, cooperate with each other, and solve problems."
