No Mention of Putin's Date for North Korea Visit
The Russian Kremlin described Russia and North Korea as "neighbors" and emphasized the potential for developing their relationship.
On the 13th, according to Russian news agencies TASS and Sputnik, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, responded to a question about whether the West should be concerned about Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to North Korea by saying, "The potential for developing relations between Russia and North Korea is very significant."
Peskov stated, "No one can raise concerns or controversies about our right to develop good relations with our neighbors," adding, "North Korea is our neighbor and a friendly country with which we are developing bilateral relations." There was no mention of the date of President Putin's visit to North Korea.
Earlier, the Russian media Vedomosti reported that President Putin would visit North Korea and Vietnam within this month. Japan's NHK reported that Putin's visit to North Korea is being discussed for early next week.
The South Korean presidential office also mentioned the day before that President Putin's visit to North Korea is approaching within a few days.
