What Is the 'First' Achievement of Gimhae City Through Hometown Love Donations?

Completion of Maintenance Project for School Zones Including Sticker Attachment

Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province announced that it has reaped its first results from the Hometown Love Fund Project, which was launched for the first time since the introduction of the Hometown Love Donation Program last year.

The first achievement comes from the 2024 Hometown Love Fund Project, specifically the Children's Protection Zone Improvement Project, which was implemented to help prevent traffic accidents involving children and promote safe driving.

The city used donations collected since last year to attach 1,428 safe driving stickers to children's protection zones at all 61 elementary schools within its jurisdiction.

These stickers are made of fluorescent high-intensity reflective material, making them easily identifiable both day and night, so that the children's protection zones can be easily recognized.

Following the completion of the Children's Protection Zone Improvement Project, the city is also pursuing other fund projects this year, such as supporting local children's center choirs and providing cultural performances for underprivileged groups.

The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate to any local government in the country except for their own registered address, and donors receive tax deductions and thank-you gifts in return.

Last month, Gimhae City expanded the selection of thank-you gifts by adding 16 new items through a selection committee, giving donors a wider range of choices.

The newly added gifts include: Gaya King Bread, Persimmon Vinegar, Konjac Rice, Anchovy Broth, Ginger Extract, Handmade Fruit Syrup, Asia Traditional Laver, Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice, Eum Sand, Distilled Soju, Gayadang Coffee, Todeogi Huang Cake, Pet Supplies, Jangguncha Shampoo, Donation Points (Dwitgogi Package), and Lotte Water Park Admission Ticket.

A city official stated, "We hope that the Children's Protection Zone Improvement Project will help children live more safely," and added, "We will continue to discover and implement projects that benefit our citizens."
