Participation in Europe's Largest Port and Logistics Event 'TOC Europe'

Attracting Global Companies to New Upcoming Hinterland Complex

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) participated in "TOC Europe 2024," held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from June 11 to 13, together with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, to promote the Busan New Port hinterland complex to global companies.

"TOC Europe 2024" is the largest port and logistics conference in Europe, with more than 4,000 key industry stakeholders such as port operators, shipping companies, and logistics firms attending every year, making it a highly influential event.

During the event, BPA actively promoted the attractive investment environment of the New Port hinterland complex?including its excellent location and various incentives?through one-on-one meetings with more than 20 global companies, including DP World, representing logistics and manufacturing firms, shipping lines, and terminal operators.

In particular, BPA highlighted the cases of LX Pantos and DP World, which were selected as tenants for the New Port West Container Hinterland Complex at the end of last year, and drew attention by providing detailed explanations about the port hinterland facilities and incentive systems.

Furthermore, the delegation confirmed the high level of interest from global companies in the New Port South Container Hinterland Complex, which is scheduled for completion at the end of this year, through this event.

Based on its know-how in attracting tenants to the West Container Hinterland Complex, Busan Port Authority conducted customized presentations according to each consulting company's business sector and provided specific guidance on investment procedures and qualification criteria, further enhancing the promotional effect.

On June 12 local time, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan Port Authority, and other major domestic port authorities jointly participated in the "Korea Smart Port" session, introducing the characteristics and strengths of each port and its hinterland complex.

During this session, BPA explained its digital transformation efforts, such as the port logistics integrated platform "Chain Portal," which connects real-time information among various stakeholders at Busan Port. There was also a Q&A session between participants and representatives from each domestic port authority.

Jang Hyungtak, Head of BPA's New Port Branch, said, "This TOC Europe 2024 was a very valuable opportunity to further enhance the global competitiveness of the New Port hinterland complex and expand our network with potential investors. Through strategic and diverse promotional activities, we will attract the attention of outstanding domestic and international companies and develop the New Port hinterland into a high value-added integrated logistics complex."
