Jeep launched the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model of the sport utility vehicle (SUV) Wrangler in South Korea on the 13th.
Based on the New Wrangler introduced earlier this January, this PHEV model is a facelifted version unveiled three years after its initial reveal in 2020. Last year, it sold more than 67,000 units in the United States, making it the best-selling PHEV launched domestically in the U.S. It is said that 43% of Wrangler customers chose the 4xe.
The exterior is similar to the internal combustion engine model, with the Jeep logo and the rear 4xe badge highlighted in blue to emphasize its electrified nature. It comes with exclusive 20-inch wheels. The interior instrument panel is also PHEV-specific, allowing intuitive monitoring of battery charge and electric driving status. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is included, along with T-map navigation, heated front seats, power seats, and many other features preferred in the domestic market.
It runs on a 2.0L gasoline turbo engine, two electric motors, and a 350V lithium-ion battery. The engine produces 272 horsepower and 40.8 kg·m of torque, while the motors deliver 63 horsepower and 145 horsepower respectively. When fully charged, it can travel 34 km on electricity alone and has a total driving range of over 630 km. The combined fuel efficiency is 12.0 km per liter. It is equipped with full-time four-wheel drive, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and other features suitable for off-road driving.
In South Korea, it is available in a single Sahara 4-door trim. The hardtop version is priced at 97.3 million KRW, and the powertop version at 99.9 million KRW. Bangsil, CEO of Stellantis Korea, said, "With the Wrangler’s inherent off-road capabilities combined with quietness, efficiency, and stable yet dynamic driving performance, the range of choices for Wrangler customers has expanded."
