Aerospace Administration Chief: "Astronomy Institute Should Collaborate on L4 and Asteroid Exploration"

Private Companies Leading the New Space Era Begin Meetings with Affiliated Agencies

Yoon Young-bin, the Administrator of the Space Aviation Administration, chose the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute as the first affiliated institution to meet after being transferred from the Ministry of Science and ICT. In the new space era, he decided to listen to the opinions of private companies first and then coordinate policy directions with affiliated institutions.

On the 13th, during a meeting with Park Young-deuk, Director of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, and other executives, Administrator Yoon stated, "Countries with a vision for space will lead the global economy, and as humanity's activities expand into space, there is a growing social demand to also expand South Korea's space economic territory." He emphasized, "Both institutions must communicate and collaborate more closely to establish detailed plans for newly necessary projects such as L4 exploration and asteroid exploration."

Administrator Yoon also said, "The role of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute is expected to be significant in the New Space era," urging the discovery of various missions that align with this expectation.

The Space Aviation Administration plans to continue communication next week with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, which is responsible for space transportation, satellites, and aviation, starting with the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, which handles space science exploration.
