In addition to Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Jeju Air, passengers using T'way Air will also be able to check their luggage in advance at hotels and depart from Incheon Airport empty-handed.
Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 13th that it will expand the operation of the off-airport baggage check-in service, 'Easy Drop.'
The Easy Drop service allows passengers to issue boarding passes and check their luggage at hotels or terminals, then depart from Incheon Airport without separate check-in procedures. Since December last year, passengers using Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Jeju Air have been able to use the service based at the Holiday Inn Express Seoul Hongdae Hotel.
With this service expansion, T'way Air has been included as a service target since the 10th. Starting from the 17th, the Easy Drop service will also be available at Inspire Resort near Incheon Airport.
The corporation plans to provide the Easy Drop service at major terminals and hotels in the metropolitan area, including Myeongdong and Gangnam in Seoul, as well as Paradise City Hotel in Incheon, within this year. Additionally, it plans to add low-cost carriers (LCCs) and foreign airlines.
Furthermore, a 'Home Drop Service' that allows passengers to issue boarding passes and check luggage from home is also being prepared. To this end, a tablet PC-based mobile passenger check-in system is being developed with a target completion in 2025.
Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, "We will make this year the first year of digital transformation and expand differentiated smart services unique to Incheon Airport," adding, "We will improve passenger convenience and strengthen Incheon Airport's future competitiveness."
