The People Power Party is establishing a 'Special Committee to Prevent the Judicial Destruction by Lee Jae-myung.' This is a countermeasure against the Democratic Party of Korea's proposal of the 'Special Prosecutor Act for the Investigation of Prosecutors in the Ssangbangwool North Korea Remittance Case.'

On the 13th, after a party meeting at the National Assembly, People Power Party floor leader Choo Kyung-ho told reporters, "Following the destruction of the legislative branch, the Democratic Party is now trying to destroy the judiciary as well. We must fully prevent this," and announced plans to form the special committee. Prosecutor-turned lawmakers Yoo Sang-beom and Joo Jin-woo have been nominated as the committee chairman and secretary, respectively.

Floor leader Choo said, "Last Friday, former Gyeonggi Province Peace Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young was convicted, and yesterday, the prosecution indicted Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader and then governor of Gyeonggi Province," adding, "The Democratic Party is trying to avoid damage by proposing the special prosecutor law and is talking about impeaching prosecutors and judges and introducing a judge election system." He continued, "We will assign lawmakers with legal expertise to the special committee to carry out strong activities. I hope they will engage in a vigorous struggle centered on the committee."

Choo also urged the police and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials to promptly investigate the death of Corporal Chae. Following the emergency countermeasure meeting in the morning, he reiterated, "I urge all agencies to conclude the investigation by the 1st anniversary of Corporal Chae's death on the 19th of next month," and promised, "Those responsible, regardless of rank or position, will be severely punished." Regarding leniency for Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, the head of the investigation team, he said, "I will again express my intention to recommend special measures to the president once the trial is over."
