Gwangju National Science Museum Hosts Science School 'Are There Plastics That Decompose?'

This lecture, titled "Are There Plastics That Decompose?", will feature Professor Myunghan Yoon from the Department of New Materials Engineering at GIST. The session will explore the history and characteristics of plastic materials, as well as future plastic materials being researched by many scientists.

Professor Yoon earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Chemistry from Seoul National University, completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Northwestern University, and conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University’s Department of Chemistry. He is currently a professor in the Department of New Materials Engineering at GIST. His main research areas include polymer, metal oxide, and nanomaterial-based electronic materials, hydrogels, and biodegradable polymers.

The Science School is free and open to everyone from children to adults. Participants can enter on-site after making a reservation in advance through the science museum’s website.

Various souvenirs will be provided through a raffle during the event, and those who post a review of the lecture on social media will receive a mobile coupon on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, for this third Science School session, which completes the first half’s stamp mission, participants who accomplish the mission will receive special souvenirs separately.
