At 10 AM on the 20th, Guro Art Valley Basement 1 Small Auditorium... For 487 Building Owners and Facility Managers in the Area
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced that an explanatory session on the ‘Building Energy Reporting and Rating System’ for managing actual greenhouse gas emissions from buildings will be held on the 20th at 10 a.m. in the small auditorium on the basement level 1 of Guro Art Valley.
The ‘Building Energy Reporting and Rating System’ is a self-diagnosis system where building owners report their building energy usage, which is then classified into five grades from A to E based on usage by purpose and scale. Seoul City introduced this system for the first time in Korea to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings, and it has been prioritized for public buildings since April.
For private buildings, it will operate as a voluntary reporting system until the end of this year and will be fully implemented starting in 2025.
The reporting targets are ▲public buildings with a total floor area of 1,000㎡ or more ▲private and non-residential buildings with a total floor area of 3,000㎡ or more.
Based on the diagnosis results, excellent buildings will be awarded the ‘Low Carbon Building Certification Mark,’ and buildings rated at the lowest E grade will receive free diagnostics and consulting on building energy usage, as well as interest-free loans for facility improvements if necessary.
In Guro-gu, there are a total of 487 buildings subject to the reporting and rating system, including 109 public buildings over 1,000㎡ and 378 private buildings over 3,000㎡.
This explanatory session is one of the touring sessions held by Seoul City visiting autonomous districts to encourage interest and participation in the Building Energy Reporting and Rating System.
Anyone interested, including building owners and facility managers, can participate. A professional instructor will explain the purpose of the system, implementation overview, reporting methods, and then conduct a Q&A session.
The reporting period for this year is until June 28. Registration is available on the Low Carbon Building Support Center website, and the ratings will be announced on July 31.
A Guro-gu official stated, “Energy consumption in buildings is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions,” and added, “We hope many residents will show interest and participate in the Building Energy Reporting and Rating System to achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality goal.” For more details, please check the Guro-gu website or contact the Environment Division of Guro-gu Office.
