Seoul District Mayors Association Elects Ilpyeong Lee, Dongdaemun District Mayor, as New President

Formation of Executive Committee for the 3rd Year of the 8th Minseon Term District Mayors' Council
Decided at the 190th Regular Meeting held on the 12th at Jongno-gu Office Annex

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 12th that Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, was elected as the chairman of the 3rd year of the 8th term of the Seoul Metropolitan City District Mayors' Council at the 190th regular meeting of the Seoul Metropolitan City District Mayors' Council held at the annex of Jongno-gu Office.

The term of the new chairman Lee Pil-hyung is one year, from July 1 this year to June 30 next year.

The council was established in 1995 to promote cooperation between Seoul City and autonomous districts, discuss and coordinate common interests, and contribute to the sound development of local autonomy.

The chairman represents the council to enhance cooperation among autonomous districts and discusses legal and institutional improvement measures with Seoul City and the central government. He also serves as a co-chairman of the National Mayors, County Governors, and District Mayors Council.

Chairman Lee Pil-hyung served 28 years at the National Intelligence Service, was an administrator at the Blue House, and chairman of the agenda committee at the Yeouido Research Institute before taking office as the mayor of Dongdaemun-gu in July 2022 for the 8th term.

Together with Chairman Lee, the executive members of the 3rd year of the 8th term Seoul District Mayors' Council were decided as follows: ▲ Advisors Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu; Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu; Jeong Mun-heon, Mayor of Jongno-gu ▲ Secretary-General Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu ▲ Auditor Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu.
