Daejeon Technopark announced on the 12th that it is recruiting participants for the '2024 Daejeon Drone Challenge Competition.'


Held annually since 2019 and now in its 6th edition, this drone competition is hosted by Daejeon Technopark and organized by the Korea Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Association. It will take place on September 7th at the Daejeon Drone Park located in Munpyeong-dong, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon.


The competition category is the 'Delivery Drone Technology Contest.' Participants will compete by carrying a set weight of cargo and flying the given track for the longest time possible while safely landing.


Anyone can apply as an individual high school student or older, or as a team of up to three members. However, pilots must hold a national drone license of class 4 or higher.


The prize money is △ Grand Prize 5 million KRW (1 team) △ Gold Prize 3 million KRW (1 team) △ Silver Prize 2 million KRW (2 teams) △ Bronze Prize 500,000 KRW (4 teams) △ Encouragement Prize 500,000 KRW (2 teams). The encouragement prize will be primarily awarded to high school teams excluded from the ranking.


Winning teams who wish to participate will have the opportunity to present at the '2024 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Symposium' held at the end of this year.


The application period is until the 15th of next month, and after document screening, the results will be individually notified via text message or email on the 23rd.


Kim Woo-yeon, Director of Daejeon TP, said, "This drone competition will serve as a leading event for the 'world-class economic city Daejeon' and will contribute to the development of core technologies driving the advancement of unmanned aerial vehicle systems at the center of the Fourth Industrial Revolution technology."
