The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (Director Lee Pyeong-gu) announced on the 12th that Aurora Williams, Minister of Mining of Chile, Mathias Francke, Ambassador of Chile to Korea, and other key figures in the Chilean mining sector visited to discuss technological cooperation to increase the production of copper and lithium resources in Chile.

This visit was made to discuss ways to strengthen the core mineral supply chain cooperation between the two countries, focusing on the Institute's excellent eco-friendly lithium extraction technology. Chile is the country with the largest reported lithium reserves in the world, with approximately 9.3 million tons of lithium resources.
Minister Aurora Williams showed great interest in the Institute's full-cycle mineral resource exploration, development, and utilization system, and requested that the Institute actively participate in technological cooperation such as joint research necessary for resource exploration and development in Chile.
Director Lee Pyeong-gu stated, “We will strengthen cooperative research with Chile and strive to secure lithium resources stably.”
