‘Luxury Bag Gift Suspicion from County Head's Wife' Seocheon Official Says "Not True"

An official from Seocheon County, Chungnam Province, denied allegations that he gave a luxury bag as a gift to the wife of the county governor.

The official wrote in a text message sent to a reporter on the 12th, "It is true that (the county governor's wife) had a meal, so you may write about that, but the luxury bag is not true at all. Especially, I think it is not too late to write about it after an investigation."

Earlier, a person identified as A, presumed to be an employee working at Seocheon County Office, filed a report on May 3rd to the Chungnam Provincial Government’s People’s Petition and Public Interest Reporting section, alleging donation activities and pre-election campaign collusion involving Governor Kim and Team Leader B at the county office.

In the report, A claimed, "Another official, C, allegedly gave a luxury bag, presumed to have been purchased at a duty-free shop during a trip to Osaka, Japan, in May, as a gift to Governor Kim’s wife."

Regarding this, the official said, "If the whistleblower or the reporter had that intention, then they have succeeded, but as someone who has never lived such a life, it is very humiliating. I only feel sorry to my child that a trip meant to create memories with them has been distorted like this."

The audit department of Seocheon County Office received related materials from the Chungnam Provincial Government on the 4th and is currently verifying the facts.
