Mercury Surpasses 10 Million Units Supplied Domestically of Global Semiconductor Chipset-Equipped WiFi Routers

Information and communication equipment specialist Mercury announced on the 12th that it has surpassed 10 million units in domestic supply of WiFi routers equipped with MediaTek chipsets through close cooperation with global semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek.


Mercury, which holds a 60% share of the domestic market, plans to expand its lineup to include WiFi 7 and AI (Artificial Intelligence) features through collaboration with MediaTek, and to enter overseas markets.


According to Mercury on the day, it has surpassed the supply of 10 million WiFi routers equipped with MediaTek chipsets to domestic telecom companies KT, SK Broadband, and LG Uplus.


Since 2017, Mercury has supplied WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 wired and wireless routers developed with its own technology using MediaTek’s Filogic chipset series to domestic telecom companies. In particular, based on close technical cooperation with MediaTek and excellent quality, it holds about 60% of the wired and wireless router market supplied to domestic telecom companies.


The wired and wireless routers supplied by Mercury to domestic telecom companies are provided by the telecom companies to internet subscribers, supporting users to enjoy a smooth internet environment through fast and stable connections.


Additionally, through products applying the latest WiFi 7 technology, Mercury plans to provide users with high-performance, fast, and stable WiFi connections for various applications such as video calls, 4K/8K TV entertainment, real-time gaming, and streaming, and plans to enter domestic and overseas markets through close cooperation with MediaTek.


A Mercury official said, “We are conducting various businesses including optimized WiFi modules installed in home appliances, all-weather 5G routers supporting internet use in mobile environments (buses, KTX, etc.), and IoT (Internet of Things) solutions (terminals and platforms) that provide safe and convenient services using smart devices,” adding, “We are also promoting overseas projects equipped with OpenSync functionality that supports optimized service management of wired and wireless routers.”


He added, “Mercury and MediaTek plan to expand a diverse product lineup equipped with AI functions in the domestic and overseas telecom terminal markets and to expand the market through continuous business cooperation in overseas markets.”
