2024 Engineering Day Commemoration Ceremony Held
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Engineering Association announced on the morning of the 12th that they held the '2024 Engineering Day Commemoration Ceremony' at the Grand InterContinental Parnas in Seoul, attended by over 500 engineering industry officials.

At the ceremony, government awards and commendations were presented to 43 individuals who contributed to the development of the engineering industry. The highest honor, the Gold Tower Industrial Medal, was awarded to Hwang Hae-geun, chairman of Dongil Engineering Corporation and Korea's first registered engineer, for his contributions to national industrial development through infrastructure designs such as the Gyeongbu Expressway. The Silver Tower Industrial Medal was awarded to Lee Sang-jin, CEO of KRTC, and the Industrial Medal was awarded to Kang Ki-soo, CEO of Formit.
The event also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Korea Engineering Association, established in 1974. It reflected on the past half-century of the engineering industry and the association's journey, while also unveiling a future vision looking ahead to the next 50 years.
First Vice Minister Kang Kyung-sung congratulated the association on its 50th anniversary and praised the industry's efforts in achieving last year's record-high order performance of 10.5 trillion won. He added, "The digitalization and intelligent transformation of the engineering industry are accelerating, and the competitive landscape of the global market is rapidly changing. The government will strengthen support so that the engineering industry can enhance its status as a high value-added knowledge service and support the sustainable development of manufacturing."
