Under the vision of a smart integrated port with the people, YGPA President Park Seong-hyun is actively promoting various projects for the development of Yeosu Gwangyang Port, YGPA, and the region based on the management policies of customer first and coexistence with the local community.

In particular, in 2023, he achieved significant external accomplishments such as winning the Grand Prize in the Public Sector at the Korea Communication Awards, and being awarded the Best Port in Safety and Environment by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), securing a double crown. He is faithfully implementing his management policy of “field-driven sales” by maintaining the status of Gwangyang Port as the top port in handling 10 million automobiles and import-export cargo volume.

Additionally, by closely linking core business with ESG management and demonstrating a commitment to coexistence with the local community, he achieved the highest grade in the local community contribution recognition system, won the Best Award in the Public Safety Governance category at the Korea Crime Prevention Awards, and ranked first in ESG evaluation among 362 public institutions.

Moreover, he proved his passion and capabilities by receiving a total of 29 certifications and awards from government ministries and international organizations in 2023, including the Small and Medium Business Co-prosperity Commendation (Ministry of SMEs and Startups), the Korea Sustainable Management Award in the Environment category, and the Service Excellence Award.

YGPA plans to continue fostering Yeosu Gwangyang Port as a competitive marine industry hub, contributing to the national economy and regional development, and leading the fulfillment of social responsibilities as a public institution.

YGPA President Park Seong-hyun said, “We will continuously strive to make Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority a stepping stone for the national economy and local community.” He added, “With this award, I will do my best to maintain the original intention for the development of Yeosu Gwangyang Port and the region.”
