The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 11th that all eight members of the Korean delegation who participated in the 24th Asian Physics Olympiad held in Kampar, Malaysia, won medals.
In this competition, which featured 208 students from 27 countries including 26 Asian countries and 1 European country (observer), the Korean delegation won gold medals by students Gominjae (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3), Kim Minjae (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3), Lee Yeonwoo (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3), Lee Ungju (Gyeonggi Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3), and Lee Hyeokjun (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 2); a silver medal by student Joo Hyeongjo (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3); and bronze medals by students Lee Minseop (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3) and Lee Seunghun (Seoul Science High School for Gifted Students, Grade 3).
Kim Jaewan, chairman of the Korean Physics Olympiad Committee of the Korean Physical Society, who led the Korean delegation to the 24th Asian Physics Olympiad, stated, "The Asian Physics Olympiad is an international competition where outstanding students from around the world participate and engage in friendly competition, comparable to the International Physics Olympiad. I am proud of the students who worked hard balancing school exams and Olympiad preparation, and I hope they continue to freely pursue their dreams and talents in science."
