Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that it will open and operate water playgrounds, which are popular summer facilities for children, in nine parks including Gieopsarang Park, starting simultaneously from July 5.
Hong Sunyoung, director of the Green City Project Office, is giving a briefing related to the opening of the water play area.
The water playgrounds opening this time are located in Gamgye 3rd Park and Sahwa Park in Uichang-gu, Gieopsarang Park and Daewon Park in Seongsan-gu, Hyeondong Park and 3.15 Haeyangnuri Park in Masanhappo-gu, Samgye Park in Masanhoewon-gu, and Ancheong Park and Yeoja District Water Playground in Jinhae-gu. This year, to help citizens enjoy a cool summer amid the heat, the operation period has been extended by seven days compared to last year, running for 52 days from July 5 to August 25. The facilities will be closed every Monday during the operation period for inspection and cleaning.
The operating hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., but during the peak season (July 28 to August 11), weekend hours will be extended until 5:30 p.m.
Last year, more than 110,000 people visited the water playgrounds over 45 days, making them the most popular summer facility for children. The city plans to complete facility and safety inspections by the end of June before opening, and will assign five to eight safety personnel to each water playground to ensure safe and pleasant use.
Hong Soonyoung, Director of the Green City Project Office, said, "As many citizens are expected to visit the urban water playgrounds again this summer, we will do our best to ensure safe and enjoyable water play through thorough safety management."
