Will It Succeed Globally?... Dongseo University Students Fly to Tokyo in Search of 'Items'

Global Startup Program for Game and Webtoon Departments

LINC 3.0 Project Group Opens Startup Camp in Tokyo

Why did students from the Department of Game Studies and the Department of Webtoon at Dongseo University fly to Tokyo?

Dongseo University (President: Jang Jeguk) announced on the 11th that its LINC 3.0 Project Group recently conducted a global startup item discovery program in Tokyo, Japan, over four days and three nights.

This program, aiming to become the "Asia Number One" university leading the specialization and internationalization of university education, involved students from the Department of Game Studies (supervising professor: Park Youngjun) and the Department of Webtoon (supervising professor: Lee Seunghee) visiting Tokyo Character Street, Joypolis, and TeamLab Planets to gain insights into global trends and practical experience.

Twenty-two students received preliminary education in the K-content field in Korea and then participated in the local program in Tokyo. At Character Street, they experienced Japan's character industry and analyzed various characters, products, and marketing strategies; at Joypolis, they explored the latest technologies and the development of the game and VR industries; at TeamLab Planets, they fostered creative thinking and enhanced their global employment capabilities through digital art.

Through this program, the LINC 3.0 Project Group provided students with opportunities to directly experience Japanese cultural content on-site, discover various startup ideas, and acquire a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Additionally, by building a network for analyzing the Japanese global cultural content market and advancing content production, the foundation for nurturing global entrepreneurship and employment talent was strengthened.

Hwang Kihyun, head of the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, stated, "We plan to expand the global startup item discovery program and utilize it as a specialized startup item for our students," adding, "We will continue to support the creation of an environment that fosters the insight needed to enter the global market."
