KOTRA to Host Largest Ever 'Seoul Food 2024'

Now in its 42nd edition, Seoul Food 2024 is the largest food industry exhibition in Korea and one of Asia's top four specialized food exhibitions. This year, 1,605 companies from 52 countries worldwide will participate with 2,969 booths. The number of booths has increased by more than 15% compared to last year, marking the largest scale ever in terms of participating companies.

The exhibition will feature national pavilions from a total of 52 countries, 10 more than last year. Business model exchanges among participating countries and global food culture experiences for visitors are anticipated. Notably, this year, the European Union (EU) has been selected as the guest of honor. The EU will showcase a rich variety of agricultural and food products under the theme 'Tasting the True Colors of Europe,' and will present programs such as a European organic food workshop and live cooking shows.

This year, 250 overseas buyers from 47 countries will visit Korea to hold export consultations worth a total of 200 million USD with domestic food companies. It is expected that contracts worth 150 million USD will be signed through these consultations. Additionally, the K-Food promotion pavilion operated during the exhibition will help discover star food export companies. About 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will also be signed.

Jung In-kyo, Director General for Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, "We will support K-Food companies to become new export leaders along with the Korean Wave," adding, "We will fully support marketing, entry into distribution platforms, logistics, and certification as a public-private one team so that K-Food can play a leading role in achieving 700 billion USD in exports this year."

Yoo Jung-yeol, President of KOTRA, stated, "This year’s Seoul Food has attracted more countries, companies, and buyers than last year, and various programs will be held to continue the popularity of K-Food," adding, "We will support Seoul Food to become a venue for revitalizing business and expanding sales channels in the food industry."
