Yongsan-gu, Free Special Lecture on Startup Success by Famous Entrepreneurs

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold a special lecture on entrepreneurship titled "Success Stories of Famous Entrepreneurs, Talk Concert" on the 13th from 2 to 5 PM at Yongsan Art Hall Small Theater Garam (150 Noksapyeong-daero, 1st floor).

The lecture is an opportunity for speakers to share their entrepreneurial experiences and help prospective entrepreneurs develop the attitudes and mindsets necessary for starting a business. Participation is free of charge.

Im Eun-jung, President of the Korea Women Startup Association, and Go Myung-hwan, actor and CEO (former comedian), will serve as instructors. After the lectures, there will be a Q&A session to communicate with attendees.

The first session, led by Im Eun-jung, will last about an hour and a half under the theme "Entrepreneurship More Important in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)." The lecture will cover ▲Understanding entrepreneurship ▲How to choose a startup item ▲Startup trends and considerations ▲Entrepreneurial mindset and branding. In particular, it will explore startup trends based on technologies aligned with the AI era.

The second special lecture by Go Myung-hwan will begin at 3:30 PM. Go will present under the theme "Startup! Win Before You Fight," sharing ▲Stories of four failed startup attempts ▲How following a book’s guidance led to 1 billion KRW in annual sales ▲The importance of intangible assets ▲Go Myung-hwan’s writing methods.

Anyone interested in entrepreneurship can attend this special lecture. Applications can be submitted online until the day of the lecture. Seating is limited to 298 seats (6 seats reserved for persons with disabilities) on a first-come, first-served basis.

This special lecture is based on a tripartite business agreement signed last December between the district, Sookmyung Women’s University Campus Town Project Group, and Yongsan Women’s Human Resources Development Center to support women entrepreneurs. Following the agreement, the Yongsan Women Startup Academy (basic and advanced classes) has been operating since last month. The program continues with alumni self-help groups, one-on-one startup consultations, and a final demonstration based on startup items.

Meanwhile, the district is promoting various initiatives to create a startup-friendly environment, including ▲Operating a Youth Startup Support Center ▲Operating a Startup Support Center ▲Supporting programs for resident companies at the center (May to October) ▲Conducting Startup Academies (twice a year) ▲Operating job and startup fairs (September to October) ▲Providing youth business loans (while funds last) ▲Providing loans from the Small and Medium Business Development Fund (twice a year).

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “As three organizations have joined hands to strengthen the entrepreneurial capabilities of women in our district, I hope this special lecture will help resolve concerns and questions about entrepreneurship,” adding, “We will continue to strive to discover various projects to support prospective entrepreneurs.”
