On the 10th (local time), President Yoon Suk-yeol laid a wreath at the Independence Monument in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
President Yoon entered from the right side of the Independence Monument plaza together with his wife, Kim Keon-hee, and after placing a wreath inscribed with "President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol," he observed a moment of silence.
President Yoon then moved to the garden on the right side of the monument and planted a commemorative tree by shoveling soil.
Attending the event were Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Deok-geun, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Sang-woo, Director of National Security Jang Ho-jin, Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ji Gyu-taek, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office Kim Tae-hyo, Senior Secretary for Public Relations Lee Do-woon, and Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs Park Chun-seop.
