"Tension Situation Considered, Trend Identification Underway"
On the 10th, the military authorities decided not to operate the frontline loudspeakers, a psychological warfare tool against North Korea.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated in a notice to the Ministry of National Defense press corps, "Broadcasts via loudspeakers aimed at North Korea have not been conducted so far, and it is known that there will be none today," adding, "We are prepared to broadcast immediately if North Korea engages in any despicable acts."
The military authorities operated the loudspeakers against North Korea the previous day in response to the release of trash balloons by North Korea, but decided not to operate them today considering the heightened tension.
However, the military is monitoring North Korean troop movements, including signs that North Korea is installing loudspeakers for broadcasts aimed at South Korea in the frontline area.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said, "There have been signs that North Korea is installing loudspeakers for broadcasts aimed at South Korea in the frontline area," and added, "Although no broadcasts have been made so far, our military is closely monitoring North Korean troop movements and maintaining a state of readiness."
