Doosan Construction Actively Engages in SOC and Fuel Cell Businesses... Excelling in Civil Engineering Sector

Doosan Construction, famous for its apartment brand 'We've', is showing prominence in civil engineering projects following its development business.

According to the construction industry on the 10th, Doosan Construction is actively participating in the expansion of social overhead capital (SOC) such as roads, railways, subways, and ports, which are the cornerstone of national economic development. Doosan Construction took part in the construction of the Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway, which brought innovation to transportation and logistics, the Suseo-Pyeongtaek SRT, and the Honam High-Speed Railway. It has also participated in subway projects nationwide including Seoul, Busan, and Daegu, holding one of the longest domestic railway construction records. Currently, it is carrying out projects such as the Donghae Line Pohang-Samcheok and Incheon-origin KTX direct connection project, the Icheon-Mungyeong railway project, the Gangneung-Jejin railway project, and the Indeokwon-Dongtan double-track railway project.

Doosan Construction also holds the title of 'first in the country' in the private investment project sector. The Daejeon Riverside Urban Expressway, completed in 2004, was the first domestic private investment project to attract foreign capital. Following that, it participated in the Shinbundang Line project, the country's first private proposal electric railway operated unmanned, handling route planning, construction, and operation. These private investment projects promote the construction of national infrastructure led by the private sector, enhancing the convenience and efficiency of transportation facilities. They are emerging as representative business models that generate profits.

Recently, Doosan Construction has been actively involved in the renewable energy sector, particularly in fuel cell projects. Fuel cell power generation is an eco-friendly energy conversion device that uses the electrochemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen to convert the chemical energy of fuel into electricity and thermal energy. It does not produce major pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SOx), or particulate matter.

Previously, in 2021, it completed a 39.6 MW scale fuel cell power generation project in Incheon, and since 2022, it has been commercially operating the Bitgoeul Eco Energy Power Plant in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. This power plant applies the 'world's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) - liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dual model.' The dual model of the Bitgoeul Eco Energy Power Plant enables flexible supply and stable power generation amid global energy environmental changes.

Additionally, following a shareholder agreement at the end of last year, it is promoting the Hadong fuel cell project. It is also preparing to participate in the fuel cell business for the general hydrogen market bidding announced last month.
