Expanded to an Annual Production Capacity of 190 Billion KRW
Hanamicron, a semiconductor back-end packaging and testing company, announced on the 10th that it will invest to expand production capacity (CAPA) in response to Samsung Electronics' non-memory test demand.
This equipment investment will be used to expand non-memory test facilities at the Asan plant in Chungnam. The total investment scale is 69.4 billion KRW, and it will be carried out from this month until the end of September. With this expansion, the annual test CAPA is expected to increase from 152 billion KRW to 190 billion KRW.
Hanamicron expects the sales effect from this expansion to appear from the fourth quarter. The company stated, "The proportion of non-memory test sales will increase," adding, "Test profitability is higher compared to packaging." They further added, "Both the company's sales and profitability will improve steadily."
Hanamicron is the only back-end (OSAT) company that performs the final test of mobile application processors (AP) developed by Samsung Electronics' System LSI division.
A company representative said, "This equipment investment is a decision to respond to Samsung Electronics' expansion of non-memory production and to strengthen the company's future competitiveness," adding, "We will expand production capacity in the non-memory test field and solidify our position as a leading domestic OSAT company to enhance future corporate value."
