Opening of the 279th Geochang County Council 1st Regular Session The 1st plenary session of the 279th regular meeting of the Geochang County Council is in progress.

During this regular session, the council will conduct an administrative audit, often referred to as the "flower" of local council activities, to point out cases of budget waste and demand corrections for unreasonable administration. Through this, the council will present the proper direction for county administration on behalf of the residents. In addition, the council will review and approve the 2023 fiscal year settlement and reserve fund expenditures, as well as deliberate and decide on 13 agenda items, including ordinance bills and general proposals.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Lee Honghee quoted a passage from the Analects of Confucius, Weilinggong chapter: "The real fault is not in making a mistake, but in failing to correct it." He emphasized, "The mistakes pointed out during the audit are not faults in themselves; the real fault lies in not correcting them." He urged the administration to actively address the issues raised during the audit period.

He also expressed his gratitude to the residents, fellow council members, and public officials of the executive branch for their support in allowing him to lead the council smoothly as the chairman for the first half of the 9th term.

On this day, Councilor Pyo Jusuk delivered a five-minute free speech during the first plenary session, stating, "With the election of a new National Assembly member in the 22nd general election, there is renewed vitality in the local economy and heightened expectations for regional development." She urged, "Regarding the various issues discussed during the general election, I ask that the county council and the executive branch unite with a single-minded focus on regional development, setting aside party and factional interests."
