Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) recommends products such as bedding and clothing that help escape the heat while also saving on cooling costs, offering a twofold benefit.
According to Gwangju Shinsegae on the 10th, as the heat arrives, ‘Sesa’ (SESA), known as the ‘synonym for cooling material blankets,’ is gaining attention. Known as the ‘originator of cooling blankets,’ Sesa features the super cooling material ‘Ice,’ which quickly absorbs and rapidly releases body heat to provide instant coolness upon contact, and ‘Air Ice,’ which enhances the cooling sensation with patented air tunnel technology.
Sesa was the first to introduce blankets made with cooling materials, receiving enthusiastic responses from consumers. Since then, it has released products that significantly address common drawbacks of cooling materials such as pilling and shrinkage, establishing itself as a representative brand for cooling material blankets.
Positive evaluations of Sesa products continue among industry peers in bedding and related sectors, leading to steady customer visits at the Sesa store on the 8th floor of Gwangju Shinsegae.
To welcome the upcoming summer, Gwangju Shinsegae Sesa is holding a discount promotion. The Ice Basic cooling pad is offered at approximately 50% off, from 282,000 KRW (queen size) to 149,000 KRW, and the cooling blanket is available at 99,000 KRW, down 50% from 198,000 KRW.
‘Siera Design,’ which aims to overcome relatively low brand awareness with excellent materials, is also actively utilizing cooling materials.
Opened in March on the 7th floor of Gwangju Shinsegae, Siera Design is a brand born in California, USA, in 1965, originally specializing in outdoor gear such as tents and sleeping bags. Its main customers are those who enjoy hiking and outdoor activities, and it is building its image as a premium brand.
Siera Design focuses on materials to differentiate itself in the fiercely competitive outdoor clothing market.
Siera Design actively showcases products made with high-priced functional fabrics that excel in heat dissipation, such as T-shirts using Sorona and Cool materials from the global material specialist DuPont, and Rosa jackets made from imported Japanese fabrics.
‘Bon,’ famous for men's suits, is also reaching customers through casual setup suits suitable for business meetings. The casual setup suits presented at Bon on the 7th floor of Gwangju Shinsegae’s main building feature a wider range of color options beyond the usual navy and gray, including light beige and green, expanding consumer choices.
Gwangju Shinsegae Bon is currently selling special-priced casual setup suits for 298,000 KRW. Since the special-priced products are limited in quantity, they may sell out quickly.
Kim Yoon-chul, head of the fashion team at Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “With an early heat wave expected this summer, many brands are expected to introduce a variety of products using cooling materials. We hope customers can catch both the benefits of coolness and saving on cooling costs through the brands introduced by Gwangju Shinsegae, such as Sesa and Siera Design.”
