Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 10th that three district-run libraries?Jangdeok Library, Cheomdan Library, and Unnam Children's Library?have been selected as executing institutions for the '2024 Humanities on the Road at Libraries' public contest project.
'2024 Humanities on the Road at Libraries' is a project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service and the Korean Library Association. It provides up to 10 million KRW per library to support lectures, experiences, and local humanities resource explorations aimed at increasing interest in the humanities.
Following the selection, Jangdeok Library will operate a customized humanities lecture and exploration program titled 'Dreaming Us, Meeting the Library' 10 times from August to November, targeting socially disadvantaged children in the area.
Cheomdan Library will conduct 'Indian~Bap! (Making AI and Digital Literacy a Daily Habit Like Rice Through Humanities)' 10 times from July to August, aimed at job seekers and adults with career interruptions to enhance their understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital literacy.
Unnam Children's Library will run 'Stamp Stomp! A Namdo Journey Embracing History,' an 11-session program from July to September for 3rd and 4th-grade elementary students to explore historical sites in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions and experience local history and culture.
