The Korean Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations, Gochang Branch (Chairman Han Sang-yong) announced on the 10th that it held a Dano Festival art performance on the 8th at Dongri Gugakdang in Gochang-gun, attended by about 300 residents.

Under the theme "Dano-ya! Respond!", the event began with a spectacular performance including a play, the Nokdukkot Art Troupe, and a saxophone ensemble, followed by various artistic performances by the Gochang Moyang Folk Song Group, Gugak Art Troupe Gochang, and Byeolsol Harmony.
Dano falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month and has been regarded as the most important day of the year in our agrarian society because it is the sunniest day.
As the weather warms, ancestors held rituals to give thanks for barley harvests, maintain health during summer, and strengthen the body. They also performed customs to ward off misfortune and rituals praying for a bountiful year.
This year’s event included various experiential activities such as traditional folk events unique to Dano like seesaw jumping, kite flying, Yutnori (a traditional board game), and Tuho (arrow throwing game). Additionally, the Korean Fine Arts Association Gochang Branch prepared a flea market.
Han Sang-yong, Chairman of the Korean Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations Gochang Branch, said, “Dano is the day to finish rice planting and pray for a good harvest. I hope that excellent clean agricultural products from Gochang, such as watermelons and bokbunja (Korean black raspberries), which are now being shipped in earnest under the warm sun, will grow even healthier and bring big smiles to farmers.” He added, “I thank everyone who attended this performance.”
Shim Deok-seop, County Governor, said, “I express my gratitude to Chairman Han Sang-yong and the members of the Korean Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations Gochang Branch for their efforts to help us feel the customs of our nation and the wisdom of our ancestors.” He continued, “I hope that the Dano Festival will be an opportunity for everyone to check on each other’s well-being, enjoy together, and take strong steps toward a better tomorrow.”
