Namhae-gun in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that Sangju Silver Sand Beach, one of the five beaches in the county, will be the first to open this year on July 5.
Sangju Silver Sand Beach, the representative beach of Namhae-gun, will be open for a total of 45 days from July 5 to August 18, with opening hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As in the previous year, there will also be night openings from August 1 to August 15, with the beach open until 9 p.m. during this period.
Songjeong Solbaram Beach, Seolli Beach, Dugok-Wolpo Beach, and Sachon Beach have set their opening period from July 12 to August 25, taking into consideration the summer rainy season. The opening hours for these beaches are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
At a meeting held on the 5th, Namhae-gun and related agencies also checked the preparations in various areas to ensure the convenience of visitors, such as accident prevention, price control, and sanitation management.
Namhae-gun plans to deploy a total of 38 certified beach safety personnel during the opening period and to assign sea safety managers before and after the opening period to do their utmost to prevent accidents at the beaches.
A Namhae-gun official stated, "To ensure the successful operation of the beaches in 2024, we have completed environmental improvements such as maintenance of the sandy beaches and safety facilities before opening, and we will accelerate final preparations in June by hiring safety personnel and deploying safety equipment early."
