Support for Gongsang Coast Guard Medical Expenses, Scholarship for Children of Fallen Coast Guard Officers, and More
S-OIL announced on the 10th that it donated 325 million KRW as sponsorship funds for the Coast Guard Heroes Guardianship to the Korea National Council on Social Welfare at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The sponsorship funds will be used for treatment costs for injured coast guards, scholarships for children of fallen coast guards, and awards for coast guard heroes.
Al Hizazi, CEO of S-OIL, said, "The coast guards who risk their lives to rescue others despite difficult maritime conditions are the true heroes of our society," adding, "We will continue to be a strong supporter of the coast guards."
In 2013, S-OIL signed the 'Coast Guard Heroes Guardianship' agreement with the Korea Coast Guard and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare to boost the morale of coast guards who dedicate themselves on the front lines to protect South Korea's maritime territory and the lives and property of its citizens through rescue of distressed vessels, prevention of marine pollution, and crackdown on illegal fishing vessels. Since then, it has continuously held sponsorship fund delivery ceremonies for various coast guard-related programs and coast guard hero award ceremonies.
