Stalker Decides to Close Business on May 30 After Release
"Refunded... Not True That Treatment Fees Were Skimmed"
Dr. Sujin Lee (55, female), a dentist and influencer, closed her dental clinic after receiving death threats from a stalker. Amid this, controversy arose over allegations of 'eoljuka' as she did not refund prepaid treatment fees to patients.
On the 8th, Ms. Lee started a YouTube live broadcast to promote products she is selling. During the broadcast, questions poured in regarding the allegations of unpaid treatment fees and the clinic closure, prompting her to provide explanations.
The dental clinic operated by Ms. Lee sent a text message to patients on the 16th of last month, announcing that it would close as of May 30. The message stated, "Due to continuous stalking by Dr. Sujin Lee’s stalker who was recently released from prison, the clinic will be closing," and assured that remaining treatments would be transferred to other clinics for management.
Among them, patient A claimed damages, stating, "Sujin Lee’s clinic said that remaining treatments would be linked to other clinics, but since it is inconvenient to receive treatment at another clinic, I requested a refund for the prepaid fees and the untreated portion, but I did not receive a refund," and added, "When I protested, I was blocked on SNS."
Regarding this, Ms. Lee said in the live broadcast, "There was a patient who had not yet been refunded 500,000 won for crown treatment, so I checked the details and refunded it. I think the report was made because the refund was delayed," and added, "Although the article was sensationalized and I feel unfair, the issue has been resolved. The claim of unpaid treatment fees is not true."
She continued, "I carefully checked if there were any other patients who had not received refunds and refunded them," and said, "I am doing my best. The dental clinic will definitely reopen."
Last April, Ms. Lee expressed on SNS her distress over stalking, saying, "I received a death threat letter from a stalker who went to prison. The stalker was sentenced to an additional 10 months," and expressed anxiety, "Next year (2024), my family, staff, and I will be engulfed in fear."
The letter from the stalker, which was also disclosed, contained threats such as, "I will be out in May next year. Try to stop me. Everyone will die anyway," and included threats toward Ms. Lee’s family and relatives. It appears that Ms. Lee closed her clinic to avoid the stalker after his release.
Regarding her current situation, Ms. Lee said, "Safety is the priority right now," and explained the reason for closing the clinic, "There is another stalker, so I have been busy reporting to the police. There was a stalker two years ago, and another stalker appeared, making it difficult to focus on treatment."
Sujin Lee, born in 1969, graduated from Seoul National University College of Dentistry and operated a dental clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, while also working as an influencer. In 2019, she appeared on KBS Joy’s 'Ask Anything' with her daughter, gaining public recognition. After closing her dental clinic, Sujin Lee is currently running a YouTube channel and continuing her SNS activities.
