The Ulleung County Office in North Gyeongsang Province announced on the 9th that the "19th Dokdo Protection Ulleungdo National Marathon" was held with over 580 participants.
This event, with the phrase "Dokdo Protection" in its name, was launched to honor the noble patriotism of the Dokdo Volunteer Garrison who protected our island Dokdo, and to inform the world that Dokdo is our territory.
Participants in the 19th Dokdo Protection Ulleungdo National Marathon are running along the coastal road of Ulleungdo.
The marathon course started at the Ulleung Culture and Arts Experience Center, with the full course (42.195km) running counterclockwise along the Ulleung Circular Road to circle the island, and the half course (21.0975km) running clockwise and returning from each turnaround point. There were also shorter courses of 10km and 5km. Residents, nationwide marathon clubs, and tourists participated in the event.

For safe event management, the Ulleung Police Station and the Ulleungdo Model Drivers Association supported traffic control on the day of the event. They also put great effort into ensuring a safe marathon by conducting advance training for volunteer traffic personnel on the 5th.
County Governor Nam Hankwon said, "I would like to thank the athletes and tourists who visited Ulleungdo, and I hope you fully enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of the emerald coastal road during the race," adding, "I also express my gratitude to the organizations and groups that worked together to make this event possible."
