Seongdong-gu Secures 3.2 Billion KRW in Special Adjustment Grants... Accelerating Youth Job Creation

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has secured 3.2 billion KRW in special adjustment grants from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, accelerating the implementation of key projects such as youth job creation.

The special adjustment grant is a budget allocated when a district has special financial needs according to the "Ordinance on the Financial Adjustment of Autonomous Districts in Seoul." Seongdong-gu secured a total of 3.2 billion KRW in special adjustment grants, including 2.6 billion KRW for creating youth startup spaces and 480 million KRW for expanding the installation of Seongdong-type smart smoking booths.

Accordingly, Seongdong-gu plans to create youth startup spaces within the Ttukseom Surrounding Area Special Planning Zone in Seongsu-dong.

The Ttukseom Surrounding Area Special Planning Zone, where the youth startup spaces will be established, is located near Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station, and is adjacent to Yeonmujang-gil, the main commercial street of Seongsu-dong, making it an area with a particularly high floating youth population.

Additionally, various industries such as fashion, gaming, and K-POP are concentrated here, and with the activation of youth startup ventures, the creation of youth startup spaces is expected to greatly contribute to job creation and revitalization of the local economy through synergy effects with existing industries.

Seongdong-gu also plans to install additional 'Seongdong-type smart smoking booths' mainly in areas with many smoking-related complaints.

The 'Seongdong-type smart smoking booth' is equipped with negative pressure facilities and air purification functions to block the external leakage of cigarette smoke, thereby guaranteeing smokers' right to smoke and preventing non-smokers from secondhand smoke exposure.

Accordingly, the district plans to significantly improve residents' inconvenience caused by smoking by installing additional smart smoking booths in areas with high floating populations and many smokers, such as knowledge industry centers.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "We are making efforts to effectively promote high-quality projects that residents can feel through securing external funds," and added, "We will continue to actively pursue projects that bring positive changes to residents' daily lives so that living in Seongdong-gu can be a source of pride."
