Gijang County, Busan, Recruiting Students for the 2nd Lifelong Learning Courses This Year

Gijang County in Busan will be recruiting students for the ‘2024 2nd Gijang Citizen University and Gijang Citizen Language Institute’ from June 10 to 11.

This session of Gijang Citizen University will offer 36 courses divided into General Education, Humanities, and the 5060 New Middle-aged Programs.


The curriculum includes a variety of hobby, liberal arts, humanities, and certification courses such as ▲Home Repair Master Training ▲Total Craft Instructor Course ▲Gijang!? Rediscovering Exile, as well as customized lifelong learning classes for the 5060 new middle-aged group, such as ▲Starting AI YouTube - Gijang Honorary PR Team ▲Gijang Citizen Choir.


The Gijang Citizen Language Institute will offer 43 programs, including language courses in English, Japanese, and Chinese at various levels, as well as mobile (telephone) classes. The county has structured the courses from beginner to native speaker levels so that participants can experience various languages step by step. In particular, special classes such as English storytelling for seniors and one-day introductory sessions have been opened to spark interest in language learning.


Gijang Citizen University will run from June 24 to August 31, and Gijang Citizen Language Institute will run from July 1 to September 10, both as 10-week programs. Any Gijang resident aged 20 or older, or anyone working in Gijang, is eligible to apply. For the 5060 New Middle-aged Program at Gijang Citizen University, applicants must have been born before December 31, 1973.


Course applications will be accepted over two days, June 10 and 11, and those interested can apply through the Gijang Lifelong Learning website.


County Mayor Jeong Jongbok said, “We will actively support our citizens so that they can achieve satisfaction and a happy life through learning by providing a variety of courses at Gijang Citizen University and Gijang Citizen Language Institute.”
