SK On's New Vice Chairman: Yoo Jung-jun, SK America External Cooperation Chief Vice Chairman
Choi Jae-won, senior vice chairman of SK On and younger brother of Choi Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, will take on the role of senior vice chairman of SK Innovation.
SK Innovation announced on the 7th that it will appoint Choi Jae-won as the new senior vice chairman of SK Innovation effective on the 10th. Yoo Jung-joon, head of SK Americas External Cooperation, will be appointed as the new vice chairman of SK On.
Accordingly, Choi Jae-won will resign from his position as senior vice chairman and CEO of SK On and will focus on responding to geopolitical risks and executing global growth strategies across SK Innovation’s energy and green businesses.
SK Innovation is a mid-tier holding company representing SK Group’s energy sector, with nine business subsidiaries including SK Energy, SK Geocentric, SK On, SK Enmove, SK Incheon Petrochem, SK Trading International, SK IE Technology, SK Earthon, and SK Entum.
In particular, since Choi will continue to concurrently serve as senior vice chairman of SK Group and SK E&S, he is expected to contribute to creating integrated synergies in the group’s future energy businesses.
Choi joined SKC in 1994 and has worked at major SK Group affiliates such as SK Telecom, SK E&S, SK Gas, and SK Holdings. Since 2010, he has led the expansion of future energy businesses as senior vice chairman of SK Group.
In 2021, he was appointed as senior vice chairman and CEO of SK On, which was established through the physical division of SK Innovation’s battery business, and has grown SK On into a global top-tier battery company.
