Gwangju University carried out a 'Jupgging & Flash Mob' volunteer activity on the 4th around the landmarks of Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, including Pureungil, Baegun Bridge, and the Street Food Zone.
About 300 students from four colleges of Gwangju University participated in this volunteer activity, which was a collaboration between the student councils of Gwangju University, Nam-gu Office, and Nam-gu Volunteer Center. They walked from Gwangju University to Pureungil and then to the Street Food Zone, meticulously picking up trash and exchanging greetings with passersby, spreading positive energy.
Pureungil and Baegun Bridge are representative walking courses in Nam-gu frequently used by many citizens, and this volunteer activity greatly contributed to creating a pleasant walking environment.
Additionally, the participants performed a ‘Love for the Country Arirang ESG Campaign’ flash mob synchronized to the Pinkfong Arirang version, drawing great interest and applause from nearby citizens. This flash mob reinterpreted the traditional Korean music Arirang to deliver a message that raises awareness of ESG values while positively promoting the image of Gwangju University.
The Nam-gu Volunteer Center deployed staff at the volunteer site to support participants and cooperated in promoting the volunteer activity, contributing to the establishment of an active communication and mutual cooperation system with Gwangju University for the sustainable development of the local community.
