"We will expand globally as the national representative mattress." Best Sleep, a specialized bed and mattress company, established a connection with the national team by supplying 15,040 mattresses to the Incheon Asian Games athletes in 2014. Word of mouth spread among the national athletes who used them at the time, and athletes from various sports such as soccer, basketball, figure skating, and rhythmic gymnastics began to seek out Best Sleep beds. We heard from CEO Seo Jin-won about how Best Sleep was able to solidify its status as the "national representative mattress."

On the 8th, CEO Seo said, "If anyone does not sleep well, their condition worsens and work does not go well. Especially for athletes, sleeping well the night before a game is important, so we provide everything from bed installation to sleep environment consulting." Best Sleep products are inseparable from the national team. As the official partner of the Korea Sports Council in the "bed and mattress category," they have supplied beds to national athlete villages in Jincheon, Pyeongchang, and Taereung. This summer, topper mattresses will also be additionally installed at the accommodations for the South Korean national team at the Summer Olympics held in Paris, France. They plan to support the teams at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles (LA), USA.

Although Best Sleep became known as the mattress sought after by national athletes, their goal is to be a total sleep solution company that helps everyone sleep comfortably. CEO Seo, who graduated from Seoul National University’s Business Administration department and worked at Samsung C&T, joined the company in 2012 after being called by his father, Seo Geon-seok, the founder of Amos Bed. He focused on patents and manufacturing technology for 2 to 3 years before launching Best Sleep in 2014, which is also why the brand name includes the word "Sleep."

To this end, Best Sleep is dedicated to developing bedding, sleep music, and sleep content. They have released several sleep music albums, including "Melsomnus," a collaboration with pianist Yoon Han, and provide content such as "How to Sleep Well" and "Knowledge about Sleep" to sleep meditation applications. They operate the Barun Sleep Research Institute and a YouTube sleep music channel, and even created storybooks that help children develop bedtime habits. Last month, they held a "sleep concert" where the audience could lie on soft beds and comfortably fall asleep while listening to a live performance. CEO Seo emphasized, "Usually, bed companies expand their products to sofas, dressers, etc., but our direction is different. The sleep music and sleep content we are doing now are not profitable businesses at all, but we are working hard with the dream of sound sleep and looking toward the future."

They have been steadily collaborating on sleep-related research with Seoul National University Hospital. The first experiment was on "how mattresses affect sleep quality." CEO Seo said, "We conducted experiments with different mattress specifications and found that the time to fall asleep was reduced and sleep maintenance time was longer on mattresses with Best Sleep’s patented technology." He added, "We are also conducting second and third studies on the relationship between obesity and mattresses, and on pillows, showing how serious we are about sleep."

Best Sleep is also gearing up for global expansion. They aspire not only to be the mattress sought by national athletes but also to become South Korea’s representative in the global sleep market. In Singapore, they aim to open a showroom this summer. They have already set up a system for online product purchases. In the United States, they have started selling products through online platform entries. CEO Seo said, "We are focusing most on quality improvement and enhancement to live up to the name of the national representative mattress." He added, "It will take time, but we will become South Korea’s national representative in the sleep market."
