Kakao Selected as a Participating Company for Private Sector Mobile ID Access Alongside KakaoBank

Kakao announced on the 6th that it has been selected as a participating company for the private sector opening of mobile identification in collaboration with Kakao Bank.

Kakao and Kakao Bank will begin system development this month and provide mobile ID services after passing the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's suitability evaluation within the year. Kakao plans to implement the service by adding a mobile ID menu in the 'More' tab of KakaoTalk, while Kakao Bank will add the menu within its application.

Currently, mobile IDs can be used for driver's licenses and national veterans registration cards, with resident registration cards to be added later.

A Kakao representative stated, "Since we are implementing a system that allows users to easily and securely issue and verify mobile IDs using only the Kakao and Kakao Bank applications, we hope many users will utilize the service."
