Strengthening Commitment to Integrity Through Empathy-Based Participatory Programs

Jinju City, Gyeongnam, operated the "Empathy & Experience Anti-Corruption Integrity Week" for all employees for three days from the 3rd to the 5th.

The city held the Anti-Corruption Integrity Week in conjunction with Corporate Ethics Day to foster a culture of integrity within the organization and establish a clean public service ethical standard. Various participatory programs were prepared to increase employees' interest in anti-corruption and integrity, which led to active participation.

On the first day, the 3rd, a "Integrity Advisory" was issued to all employees via KakaoTalk notification to announce the start of the Anti-Corruption Integrity Week. On the morning of the 4th, the "Integrity Hamo Campaign" was held for employees arriving at work in collaboration with Hamo. On this day, Jinju City Mayor Cho Kyu-il personally handed out integrity bookmarks to employees as they arrived, and the Jinju City Public Officials Union and staff responsible for permits and approvals also participated in the campaign, spreading the commitment to integrity.

In particular, participatory integrity experience activities such as "Sharing Integrity Sentiment Messages," where employees wrote integrity-related phrases on Hamo postcards and shared them together on the afternoon of the 4th, and "Making My Own Integrity Mug Cup," which contained personal pledges of integrity, received a great response from employees. In addition, the integrity letter dispatch and online integrity quiz competition helped enhance understanding of integrity-related laws and regulations.

Mayor Cho emphasized, "Integrity is the most important value in public service. I ask all employees to raise their sensitivity to integrity, so that we can build a trustworthy administration by fostering a culture of integrity and establishing a clean ethical standard."

Meanwhile, on May 31, the city held the second meeting of the Integrity Promotion Team, headed by the mayor and composed of the vice mayor and key senior officials such as directors and heads of departments, to review measures for improving integrity and discuss ways to identify and improve areas vulnerable to corruption. The city plans to continue internalizing laws and systems and strengthening public officials' integrity capabilities through various integrity initiatives in the future.
