The office of Morris Chang, the founder who made TSMC the world's number one foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing), is located in the heart of Taipei, Taiwan. It is in the TWTC International Trade Building, a skyscraper in Taipei where many of Taiwan's renowned accounting firms are concentrated. This building, consisting of 34 floors above ground and 3 underground, stands tall enough to be easily spotted from afar.

According to local sources in Taiwan on the 5th, Morris Chang is minimizing external contacts as much as possible. At the age of 92 this year, he feels great fatigue when meeting and talking with people. Unless it is a truly important person, he does not make appointments and only goes back and forth between his home and office. Even highly famous figures in Taiwan's business and political circles are often turned away if they visit Morris Chang's office without prior contact or appointment.

The only person who has a 'free pass' with Morris Chang is Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. Morris Chang makes time to meet whenever CEO Huang visits Taiwan. This time as well, Morris Chang met CEO Huang, who visited Taiwan for the Computex 2024 keynote speech and to observe exhibitions of partner companies. The meeting took place not in his office but at a night market. Recently, Morris Chang and his wife met CEO Huang and his wife for dinner. After dining for about three hours, at CEO Huang's spontaneous suggestion, the two couples visited Ningxia Night Market, one of Taipei's eight major night markets, and ate Taiwanese-style oyster pancakes called eoyajen and other street foods. It is reported that this was Morris Chang's first visit to a night market in his life.

This scene, occurring as the Computex exhibition was winding down, is being widely discussed among Taiwanese media and insiders as a vivid example of the close relationship between NVIDIA and TSMC. Many evaluate it as a glimpse of Morris Chang's determination to share everything with CEO Huang despite his advanced age and physical discomfort. NVIDIA has taken the lead in the AI market, and by contracting their semiconductors to TSMC, TSMC has also maintained its dominance. They have risen together as partners, and the world is watching how long this cooperative relationship will continue.
