Acquisition of Eco-Friendly Certification under the Global Environmental Assessment System
Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS division announced on the 5th that four types of solar modules, including the Q.TRON and Q.PEAK DUO series, have obtained the Bronze eco-friendly certification from the U.S. global environmental assessment system (EPEAT), securing a differentiated position in the U.S. federal procurement market.
EPEAT is a global environmental assessment system for electronic and electrical products operated by the U.S. Green Electronics Council (GEC), providing Bronze certification to products that meet all mandatory criteria. Hanwha Q CELLS received high evaluations in areas such as product life cycle assessment (LCA) management, transparent raw and subsidiary materials supply chain management, use of recycled materials, wastewater discharge management at manufacturing facilities, and eco-friendly packaging materials.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) restricts access to the U.S. federal government procurement market to only EPEAT-certified products when two or more companies in a category each have three or more products certified by EPEAT.
Hanwha Q CELLS obtained Bronze certification for one product in February and recently acquired certification for three additional products, enabling entry into the U.S. procurement market.
A Hanwha Q CELLS official stated, "As part of strengthening ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, we will continue efforts to supply eco-friendly products by managing and supervising the environmental impact of all processes from manufacturing to recycling."
