Kim Jung-sook, the spouse of former President Moon Jae-in, announced plans to sue ruling party officials who raised allegations of a 'self-invitation' regarding her 2018 visit to the Taj Mahal in India.
Yoon Gun-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea and former head of the Moon Jae-in administration's state affairs office, held a press conference at the National Assembly communication office on the same day, stating, "Kim plans to formally sue those involved in baseless and malicious attacks related to the official diplomatic activities of the president's spouse."
He explained, "Even if a former president's spouse holds a public position, overlooking such fake news does not help the development of our society and politics," adding, "This decision was made with heavy consideration."
Meeting with reporters, Representative Yoon further stated, "The complainant will be Kim herself," and "The targets of the lawsuit will be determined after legal review."
Regarding the in-flight meal expenses, Representative Yoon emphasized, "The Indian delegation at the time dined on the standard dedicated aircraft meals that have been provided on overseas trips by all past and current governments."
