Now in its second year, this symposium was organized to promote the technology and current status of by-product recycling in the steel industry and to create a platform for collaboration among related industries.

About 170 attendees participated in the event, including representatives from cement companies, construction firms, major academic institutions, and related organizations.

In particular, Hyundai Steel shared trends in slag recycling and related regulations at the event, and presented various technological cases of resource recovery using steel by-products, including ▲ cement substitutes using converter slag ▲ non-carbonate raw materials that can replace limestone, the main raw material of cement ▲ special cement using reduction slag.

Additionally, five institutions?Sampyo Industry, Kongju National University, Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST), Asia Cement, and Korea University?each presented on overseas technology trends and technological development achievements related to steel by-products.

After the keynote presentations, Professor Jeong Cheol-woo of Pukyong National University chaired a session where presenters and attendees exchanged opinions on diversifying the recycling of steel by-products and carbon neutrality issues.

Kim Hyung-jin, Head of the Process Research Center at Hyundai Steel, stated, "We will continue research and development to diversify resource circulation technologies and contribute to leading carbon neutrality in the steel industry."
