Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) announced on the 4th that it has donated 10 million KRW in sponsorship funds for the ‘Kkumteul Project’ in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City to expand youth experiential opportunities.
The Kkumteul Project is a differentiated welfare service unique to Seo-gu, providing a public-private partnership coupling program for underprivileged groups in the district. It matches beneficiaries and sponsors on a 1:1 basis to promote social contribution activities.
The donation ceremony was held that morning at Seo-gu Office, attended by Seo-gu Mayor Kim Yi-gang, Gwangju Shinsegae CEO Lee Dong-hoon, and Park Heung-cheol, Secretary General of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea.
The sponsorship funds delivered that day will be used to enable selected local youths through the Kkumteul Project to participate in various experiential activities during a 2-day, 1-night stay at the Yeosu Youth Marine Education Center.
Through this Kkumteul Project, 50 children and adolescents from the district will participate in marine-related experiential programs at the Yeosu Youth Marine Education Center from the 13th for 2 days and 1 night.
In particular, this experiential activity program includes marine safety accident prevention and response methods, emergency first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for various situations, and survival swimming techniques, designed to help youths develop the ability to respond to marine-related disasters and emergencies.
Additionally, team-based indoor physical activities such as group jump rope and mission relay races will be conducted to promote camaraderie and improve teamwork skills.
Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “As a local corporation, Gwangju Shinsegae has partnered with Seo-gu Office to implement the Kkumteul Project, providing students with new experiences. We will continue to strive to promote various social contribution activities.”
